Privacy Notice
Last updated: May 25, 2026. If you have questions about this notice, contact us at aaroncougle.rm@gmail.com.
1. Introduction
This Privacy Notice describes how Aaron Cougle (“we”, “us”) handles personal information in connection with Houston, our macOS menubar application, and tryhoustonapp.com, our marketing website. Houston is designed to keep your data on your machine. This notice explains what little personal information we do collect and what we do with it.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide. When you join the waitlist on tryhoustonapp.com, we collect the email address you submit and the source page you submitted it from.
Information collected automatically by the website. When you visit tryhoustonapp.com our hosting provider (Vercel) may collect standard server logs, including IP address, user agent, referrer, and request timestamp. We may use a privacy-respecting analytics tool to count page views in aggregate. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.
Information collected by the desktop app. The Houston desktop application reads files that Claude Code writes to your local machine (under ~/.claude). It does not transmit those files, your code, your prompts, or your chat history off of your machine. Houston does not include telemetry, crash reporting, or analytics in the desktop app.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Send you a download link when Houston ships.
- Send you occasional updates about beta milestones if you opt in.
- Operate, secure, and improve the website.
- Comply with legal obligations.
4. How We Share Information
We share personal information only with the service providers needed to run the website and the waitlist:
- Vercel (web hosting and serverless functions for the marketing site).
- Email storage / sender (a transactional email provider, to be selected before public launch). Your waitlist email may be stored and used by that provider solely to send the messages described above.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may disclose information if required to do so by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
5. Cookies and Tracking
tryhoustonapp.com does not set marketing cookies. If we add privacy-respecting analytics, the cookie use will be disclosed here. The Houston desktop application does not use cookies.
6. Data Retention
We retain your waitlist email until you ask us to remove it, until it bounces, or until Houston has shipped and the waitlist is closed (whichever is first). Server logs are retained by our hosting provider on their standard retention schedule.
7. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email aaroncougle.rm@gmail.com. California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). EU and UK residents have rights under the GDPR / UK GDPR, including the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
8. Data Security
We use HTTPS for all communication with tryhoustonapp.com, and our providers (Vercel, transactional email) are responsible for standard infrastructure security on the data they hold. No method of electronic transmission or storage is perfectly secure. Houston on your machine inherits macOS’s security model.
9. Children’s Privacy
Houston is not directed to children under 13 (or 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, email us and we will delete it.
10. International Users
tryhoustonapp.com is operated from the United States. If you visit from outside the US your information may be processed in the US, which may have data protection laws different from those in your jurisdiction.
11. Changes to This Notice
We may update this notice. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of the page. For material changes we will provide additional notice (for example by email or by a banner on the site).
12. Contact
